Burned in the Vale? Tap the button. We count down your wait, log the attempt, and ping you when you can go back in. Keep this tab open while you play.
Start this the moment a dragon burns you.
Testers saw a 4:00 wait on October 2. Change it if yours is different. While you wait, play the Threshing Day game: the timer follows you there.
- No attempts logged yet.
What is the Dragonkind game?
The Dragonkind game is a free choose your own adventure Threshing experience on the Dragonkind website, dragonkind.com. Rebecca Yarros opened it on October 1, 2026, two days after the Threshing Day book came out. You play a first year cadet in the Riders Quadrant at Basgiath War College and walk through the Vale until a dragon bonds you or burns you.
Many readers call it the Dragonkind quiz, because your answers decide the dragon you end up with. Unlike a normal quiz, you can fail: a dragon can burn you, and then you wait before you try again.
How to play the Dragonkind game
- Open the Dragonkind website. Go to dragonkind.com and create an account with your email. The account saves your cadet and your bond.
- Get your assignment. The game places you in a wing, a section, and a squad. One tester on October 2 got First Wing, Claw Section, Third Squad.
- Start Threshing. Enter the Vale and make your choices scene by scene.
- Bond or burn. If a dragon chooses you, you get a result card. If it burns you, a countdown starts before your next attempt.
Wing, section, and squad explained
In the Fourth Wing books, the Riders Quadrant is split into four wings. Each wing has three sections, named Flame, Claw, and Tail, and each section is split into squads. Your squad is the group of cadets you train, eat, and fight beside. The Dragonkind game gives you this placement before Threshing, so you start the Vale as a cadet with a squad behind you.
The Dragonkind game wait timer
When testers were burned on October 2, 2026, the screen showed a 4:00 countdown. The official site has not published the wait time, so it can change. While you wait, run the free Threshing Day game here as many times as you like. It has no timer.
How to survive Threshing in the Dragonkind game
- There is no single correct path. A Reddit player took the same route several times, burned each time, and then bonded.
- Plan for three or four attempts. That is the count players on Threads report most.
- Don't copy shouting tricks. Some players bonded by yelling at a dragon. Others got roasted for the same move.
- Keep spoilers tagged. Many fans want to find their own way through, so mark spoilers when you post.
What your Dragonkind game result shows
| Field | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Name | Your dragon's name. Dragon names in the books come from Scottish Gaelic words. |
| Tail type | Swordtail, daggertail, clubtail, scorpiontail, or morningstartail. The tail is the dragon's main weapon. |
| Color | Red, orange, green, brown, blue, or black. Color hints at temperament. |
| Sex and age | Dragons live for centuries, so your bond can be hundreds of years older than you. |
| Lineage | The family line your dragon comes from. |
Want to compare? Our Threshing Day game gives you a fan-made dragon card with name, color, tail, age, and a signet hint. See the dragon colors and tail types on the home page.
